Lions star Joe Daniher faces a reprimand from the AFL after a horrific moment which is called out by the soccer world.

Lions star Joe Daniher faces a reprimand from the AFL after a horrific moment where he was accused of diving.

The fall of the shooter’s forwards in his team’s monster victory over Geelong on Thursday has been described as a “form of cheating” by football legend Garry Lyon.

Daniher got a controversial free kick when Cats defender Lachie Henderson appeared to accidentally make contact with his back during a scoring contest down the line ahead of Brisbane at the end of the second quarter.

The reruns showed Daniher falling forward. He then scored a goal seconds later as the Lions continued to hurt the Cats.

There is speculation Daniher will likely be cited by AFL game reviewer Michael Christian for his potential act of staging, triggering a fine of $ 1,000.

Lyon questioned two incidents involving Daniher where he appeared to exaggerate contact during the game.

” I did not like. I raised my hand like someone who did it himself, I include myself in that, ”he said on SEN Breakfast.

“It’s a form of cheating.

“There was no contact, he just slumped forward. Lachie Henderson’s look summed it up. Then he came back and kicked the goal.

“A minute later he took a little kick and went to the ground, then held his head. I thought he was in all kinds of trouble. In the corner of the screen, you just saw him look up, then he jumped, ran and scored a goal.

“You don’t need to do this, Joe doesn’t need to do this.”

Fox Footy analyst David King said the AFL should consider tougher penalties to prevent players from putting on the stage.

“It’s an inexpensive way to get a goal. It’s $ 1000 (well) every week, he’ll take care of it for sure. It’s a goal at a pivotal moment in this game, ”said the great North Melbourne player.

“I don’t know what the answer is – they laughed at it after half-time – but it’s not really a laughing matter. For the cost of $ 1000, you do this every week.

Richmond legend Matthew Richardson also said he was once guilty of committing the same deadly sin during a commentary for Channel 7.

“It’s not a free kick,” he said.

“Joe knew he was having problems with his positioning and I did it as a forward. You know you’re in trouble, so don’t push back and he takes the free kick. All the attackers did.
