Bloomington North’s Miller and Edgewood’s Headdy compete against regional divers

Bloomington North’s Max Miller was an unlucky 13th at the Jasper Diving Regional last year.

The junior returns this year knowing he’s one of the first six to return for Tuesday’s game, which begins at 6 p.m. The first eight arrive in the state. A field of 19 this year (there were only three competitors at the Floyd Central Sectional), will vie for a top-12 finish after eight dives.

Miller racked up a 436.35 to win his first section title. He will be joined by Edgewood senior Oliver Headdy, who exited fourth in the section at 297.20.

None of the top four returned this year, although only two were seniors. The top returner is Boonville senior Levi McKinney, who finished fifth. He won the Evansville North Section title with a 442.65 over fellow Boonville senior Lane Pollack (423.55) and Memorial junior Nathan Deputy (402.45). The assistant finished 11th and Pollack 18th at last year’s regional.

Three other section champions also return, Franklin junior Drake Keller (383.00), New Albany runner-up Colin Kruer (419.85) and Jasper Mitchell runner-up Mauck (406.65). Keller was sixth, Kruer seventh and Mauk ninth last year.
