Israel Adesanya breaks stoppage win over Derek Brunson at UFC 230

On her YouTube channel, Adesanya snapped her victory over Brunson. He said, “This fight was very hot. I knew when it was time to shine I would screw it up. I was so relaxed and so calm … You watch [Brunson’s] eyes, this guy was shaken. He was really feeling the heat of the moment. I could see it in him, so I knew, ‘you’re not talking about this life. This shit you talked about, you’re gonna pay for it.

“Izzy” continued, “It’s the fight, everyone said [I] didn’t fight a wrestler like Brunson, he didn’t fight a guy with knockout power like Brunson. He’s going to do this, is going to do that. He’s going to be pissed off. Blah, blah, blah, slammed his head. I heard everything before this fight. “[Brunson] I was diving for the legs like a beggar af * king… I love grappling but I think to myself, do something with it. He was just trying to pick up the phone, he didn’t do anything. He knew he was screwed, he had nothing for me during the strike. “(h / t middleeasy.com)

Since losing to Adesanya, Brunson has been torn apart in the middleweight division. He’s on a five-game winning streak, with wins over Kevin Holland and Darren Till, among others. Adesanya is set for a rematch against Robert Whittaker early next year. If he does manage to retain his title, it won’t be long before he faces Brunson again if he manages to secure another victory under his belt.
