DURHAM – Duke Head Coach Dan Colella and the Blue Devil Swim and Dive program are excited to announce the 2021-22 season schedule.

Colella announced the upcoming 2021-22 roster on Tuesday, which is highlighted by four home fixtures. Duke’s schedule includes doubles against eight men’s and women’s teams that placed in the top 25 at the 2021 NCAA Championships.

“We are both extremely excited and grateful to be able to swim a full program this coming year,” said Colella. “We have a few new additions, as well as a few teams that we haven’t swam in a while. There is no doubt that this is one of the most competitive programs that we have put together and I know this team will be. ready to compete on opening day until the end of the season. “

OPENING ON THE ROAD

Duke opens the 2021-22 season on the road at Virginia Tech. The Blue Devils open against the Hokies for the second year in a row, losing to Virginia Tech on the men’s side 120.5-171.5 while the women drew 150-150 a season ago.

BLUE DEVILS ORGANIZE FOUR MEETINGS

Duke will host four games at the Taishoff Aquatic Lodge this season. The Blue Devils will face UNC Wilmington and Boston College on October 29 and 30, Georgia Tech on November 6, Queens and Tennessee on January 8, and North Carolina on January 28. Duke’s last home game of the season against North Carolina will serve as a senior program day.

The four home games of the year are the most important in a single season since 2015-16, when Duke also hosted four.

LOCAL ACTION

At the end of November, Duke teams will take part in the Wolfpack Invitational in Greensboro, NC from November 18-20. The meeting will close the fall part of the schedule.

Following the program’s annual training trip in December, action resumes with a home fixture against Queens and Tennessee on January 8. Local fixtures continue into January as Duke travels to Raleigh to face North Carolina State on January 15 before hosting the Tar Talons for Senior Day on January 28.

THE RETURN TO BLACKSBURG

Duke will close the regular season at Blacksburg, competing in the Hokie Invitational February 4-6. The meet will be the Blue Devils’ final tune-up before the ACC Combined Championships in Atlanta, Ga.

ACC COMBINED CHAMPIONSHIP

For the first time under the direction of the head coach Dan Colella, the ACC Championship meet will be held the same week for men and women. The five-day meet, scheduled for February 15-19 in Atlanta, Ga., Will host the ACC Women’s Championship and the Men’s ACC Championship concurrently at the McAuley Aquatic Center. The McAuley Aquatic Center was originally built for the 1996 Olympics and is currently home to Georgia Tech’s swim and dive program.

POST-SEASON PUSH-BUTTON

After the conference meet, Duke’s will take a look at the NCAA playoffs. Some Blue Devils will compete in the Bull Dawg Invite in Athens, Ga. On February 25-26 in an attempt to improve their times for the NCAA “A” and “B” Cups. In last season’s last-ditch encounter, Duke saw two school records drop when senior Matthew Whelan recorded a 1: 42.41 at 200 butterfly and classmate David Hallaron touchdown in 4: 22.33 in the 500 freestyle.

The Duke Divers will compete in the Zone B Diving Championships March 5-9 in Atlanta, Ga., In hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Championships. The NCAA Women’s Championships are March 16-19, and the NCAA Men’s Championships follow March 23-26. Both meetings will be held at the McAuley Aquatic Center in Atlanta, Georgia.
