Emma Jean Divers, 90, of Milton, known as Jean, died on June 11, 2021 at the Evangelical Community Hospital.

She was born on June 24, 1930 in Turbotville, daughter of the late Palmer and the late Catherine (Zettlemoyer) Yoder. On January 25, 1952, she married her loving husband, Andrew W. Divers, who was predeceased by her.

Jean was a 1948 graduate of North-Mont High School in Turbotville. She graduated from the Thompson Business School in Harrisburg. After graduation, she worked as a secretary for a union office in Milton until she left to raise her children. In 1973, she returned to the workforce to begin her career as a secretary in the Susquehanna Central Mid-Unit in Milton, retiring in 1992. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Milton American Legion and founding member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Milton VFW

The survivors are a daughter, Linda Divers and her husband, Earl Travers; one son, Patrick Divers and his partner, Millie Vega, all of Milton; two step-grandchildren, Ben and Emily Travers; one sister, Betty (Yoder) Hawley of Milton; and several nieces, nephews and cousins ​​living in the Turbotville and Milton areas.

In addition to her husband, Andy, she was predeceased by four brothers, Carl “Bud”, Robert, Paul and Richard Yoder, all formerly of Turbotville.

Jean was a beautiful woman with a kind and loving soul. She appreciated and loved her family and all her friends and new neighbors. She had an adventurous spirit, enjoyed her career and colleagues very much, always wanted to travel and always work towards a new goal, move forward with her life, even have a new house built at 85.

She loved going out dancing with our dad in their younger years and loved and cherished our dad, Andy. Our mother loved, cared for, taught, gave advice, listened and supported. She was a gentle and beautiful person inside and out. She and our father gave us a life that others may not have, a life of love. Jean loved her children and her family and knew that she would be loved by them forever.

A private funeral service for friends and family was held on June 16, 2021 at Milton Cemetery with Reverend Gary Schaeffer as officiant.
