PCG Launches All-Female Rescue Dive Course to Boost Special Operations Force

An all-female Rescue Diver course has been launched by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) to bolster its special operations force.

The Rescue Diver Course, consisting of five female officers and seven enlisted women, was launched at PCG Farola Base on July 11 and will last for up to six months.

Commodore Edgardo Hernando, chief of the PCG’s Special Operations Force, said the trainees underwent drills including carrying a dinghy as a team, jogging in place, push-ups, stretching, rolling and immersion in an inflatable boat filled with salt water. among others.

He added that the personnel will also undergo capacity improvement training to increase their knowledge of basic tactical procedures, improve their diving and swimming skills, as well as to ensure their readiness to conduct missions of rescue.

On June 25, an all-female class also graduated from the PCG’s very first Radio Operator Course, nicknamed “Angels of the Sea”.

The PCG said some of the new graduates are assigned to patrol vessels of PCG’s Task Force Pagsasanay, which carried out rotational training exercises in the various maritime areas of the country, including the Philippine Sea. western.
