Pharmavite Pledges $ 100,000 to JEDI Collaborative to Increase Equity and Diversity in the Natural Products Industry

Dietary supplement company Pharmavite, maker of Nature Made vitamins and supplements, will donate $ 100,000 over three years to JEDI Collaborative, a non-profit initiative launched in 2019 to strengthen justice, equity, diversity and inclusion in the natural products industry. The company says it is the first partner brand of vitamins and supplements to join the JEDI Collaborative.

JEDI Collaborative is a project initiated by the community non-profit organization One Step Closer. Its mission includes increasing the representation of BIPOC in the natural products industry, including among business leaders, retailers and consumers. Participants include representatives from natural products companies, the media, financial companies, etc.

Surveys conducted by JEDI Collaborative and Informa / New Hope Network in 2019 show that BIPOC’s representation in the natural products industry is currently low. Black professionals make up only 2% of executive seats in U.S. industry and on boards, while Latinx representation is only 2% on boards and 6% in positions of management.

In addition to her monetary donation, Pharmavite says she will explore other opportunities to support JEDI Collaborative’s mission to advance social justice in the industry.

“Over the past year, ongoing social injustices in the context of a global pandemic have highlighted the need for us to be even more of a leader in ensuring that diversity, inclusion and ‘Membership is achieved in the vitamins, minerals and supplement industry,’ said Jeff Boutelle, CEO of Pharmavite, in a press release. “We listened intently to our employees of color and all of our staff who made it clear to us that they expected Pharmavite to harness his voice in new and impactful ways, and that is why we are so proud to support the essential work of JEDI Collaborative. We believe that diverse teams are the best and that it is imperative for our organization and the industry to reflect the diversity of the consumers we serve.
