Providence College falls in the third round of Georgetown in the third round of the NCAA
WASHINGTON DC – The Providence College men’s football team fell 4-1 to third-seeded Georgetown in the third round of the NCAA tournament.

â¢ The first shooting attempt of the match did not take place until the 33e minute at the foot of Providence Brendan McSorley. His attempt was wide to the left of the net.
â¢ The Hoyas led 1-0 in 36e minute while Dante Polvara recovered a free ball in the box on a free kick. The goal was assisted by Marlon Tabora.
â¢ With less than a minute to go, Georgetown was denied an insurance goal as Lukas burns made a diving save to his right on a free kick from Polvara.
â¢ The Hoyas held a 4-2 lead on shots and a 1-0 advantage on corner kicks in the first half.
â¢ Georgetown took a 2-0 lead in 53e minute as Stefan Stojanovic crosses a ball to Marlon Tabora behind Burns at the far post. Tabora redirected the flow to the goal crease.
â¢ Tabora scored a rebound in the 58e minute for his second goal of the afternoon to provide a three-goal cushion.
â¢ Tabora scored the hat trick in the 64e minute as he touched a ball at the right post of Aidan Rocha and Kyle Linhares.
â¢ Christophe Romain had the Brothers of the match first good opportunity to score in the 68e minute, but Giannis Nikopolidis saved Roman’s shot at the right post.
â¢ McSorley put the Friars on the board to avoid shutout in the 88e minute of play. Miguel candela and Gevork Diarbian were credited with assists on the game.
â¢ Providence, who qualified for the NCAA Round of 16 for the fourth time in program history, ends her season with an overall record of 12-5-4.
â¢ McSorley finished the season with a team record 21 points with nine goals and three assists.
â¢ Diarbian got her fifth assist of the year, while Candela got her second of the year.
â¢ Burns made four saves for the Friars, while Nikopolidis also made four saves for the Hoyas.
