Youth volleyball program to start in December

November 19 — Jamestown Parks & Recreation is sponsoring a winter volleyball program for girls in grades 1-4. The six-week program will take place on Saturday morning from December 4 to January 15. The cost of participation is $ 25 per person. The program dates are December 4, 11 and 18. The January dates of the program are scheduled for 1, 8 and 15.

The Optimist Club awards athlete of the week honors

Sulinke Van Den Berg, a rookie on the University of Jamestown’s women’s swimming and diving team, won the 200 and 500 freestyle last weekend. Van Den Berg was part of the 400m freestyle relay team that won first place. The Jimmies ended up defeating UM-Morris.

Park Beeler, a freshman wrestler for Jimmie, landed a 5th place finish at the Dakota Wesleyan Open on Saturday in the 165-pound class.

Alexes Prasek, a junior with the Jamestown High School Swim and Diving Team, placed in the top 16 in the 200m freestyle and 100m backstroke in the women’s swimming and diving competition at the ‘State. Prasek was also a part of the two, placing the 200 QN relay and the 200 relay free.

The Blue Jays placed ninth out of 18 competing teams in the state competition.
